How to Block Someone on TikTok
Learn how to block someone on TikTok from their profile, comments, or DMs. Covers mobile, desktop, bulk blocking, and how to unblock.
We have all scrolled past a weird comment and thought "I really do not want this person anywhere near my account." Blocking on TikTok is quick, quiet, and completely reversible if you change your mind later.
The person you block will not get a notification. They will not be able to find your profile, watch your videos, or send you messages. Their existing comments on your videos disappear too.
This guide covers every way to block someone on TikTok, whether you are on your phone, your computer, or dealing with a flood of unwanted comments all at once.
Open the person's profile
Open TikTok and tap the search icon at the top of the screen. Type the person's username or display name into the search bar and tap Search. Switch to the Users tab in the results and tap their profile. If you already see one of their videos in your feed, you can tap their profile picture or username directly on the video to jump to their profile page.
Tap the share icon on their profile
On their profile page, tap the share icon (the arrow pointing right) in the top right corner. This opens a menu of options along the bottom of your screen. You will see options like Report, Share Profile, Copy Link, and Block.
Tap Block and confirm
Tap Block from the menu. TikTok will ask you to confirm. Tap Block again. The person is now blocked. They will not be notified, and their profile page will look empty if you visit it again.
Good to know: You can also block someone directly from a comment. Press and hold the comment and tap Block. This works the same way as blocking from their profile.
Block someone from a direct message
If someone is bothering you through DMs, open the message thread with that person. Tap their name or profile picture at the top of the conversation, then tap the three-dot icon (···). Select Block from the options and confirm. The conversation stays in your inbox but neither of you can send new messages.
Block multiple accounts from comments at once
If you are getting a flood of unwanted comments on a video, TikTok lets you block up to 100 accounts at once. Go to the comment section of the video. Press and hold any comment from someone you want to block. Tap Manage multiple comments. Select up to 100 comments from the accounts you want to block. Tap More at the bottom, then choose Block accounts. Confirm by tapping Block.
Block someone on TikTok desktop
Open TikTok in your browser and log in. Use the search bar to find the person you want to block. Click on their profile. Click the three-dot icon near the top of their profile page, next to the share arrow. Click Block and confirm. The desktop version works the same way as mobile. The blocked person loses access to your content and cannot interact with your account.
Unblock someone if you change your mind
Go to your profile and tap the three-line menu icon (☰) in the top right corner. Tap Settings and privacy, then go to Privacy. Scroll down and tap Blocked accounts. You will see a list of everyone you have blocked. Tap Unblock next to the person you want to unblock. After unblocking, the person can find your profile and watch your videos again. But they will not automatically follow you. If you were following each other before the block, both of you will need to follow again manually.
Heads up: Unblocking does not restore previous follows. If you were mutuals before blocking, you will both need to re-follow each other.
Blocking is one of those features you hope you never need but are glad exists when you do. It takes about three taps, the other person is never notified, and you can undo it anytime from your privacy settings. No. TikTok does not send any notification when you block someone. They will not get a message, a push notification, or any alert. However, they might figure it out on their own if they try to visit your profile and cannot find it, or if they notice your videos no longer show up in their feed.
All comments from the blocked account disappear from every one of your videos. If you unblock them later, those comments do not come back. They are permanently removed.
Not from their blocked account. Your profile will not appear in their search results, your videos will not show up in their feed, and they cannot visit your profile page. However, if your account is public, they could technically view your content by logging out or using a different account.
TikTok does not publish an official limit on the total number of accounts you can block. You can block as many accounts as you need to. The bulk blocking feature in comments lets you block up to 100 accounts at a time.
Blocking completely cuts off the other person's access to your account. They cannot see your content, message you, or interact with your videos. Restricting is lighter. A restricted person can still see your videos and leave comments, but their comments are only visible to them unless you approve them. Restricting is useful when you want to quietly limit someone without fully blocking them.
