How to Block Someone on TikTok
Block someone on TikTok from their profile, a comment, a direct message, or up to 100 comments at once, see what a block does and does not stop, and find your blocked list to unblock.
You will end up with the person blocked from your profile, your comments, or your direct messages, and you will know what the block does and does not cover. You will also know where to find your blocked list if you change your mind.
TikTok's help page on blocking says that once you block someone, neither of you can view the other's posts, find the other's profile in search, or exchange direct messages. The person is not notified, and any prior connection between you is removed, so a follow in either direction ends. The block has limits. TikTok says you may still see the person in a multi-host LIVE, in Duets posted by other people, and in group chats you share.
We checked every path below against TikTok's help center in October 2026, not in the app itself.
Open the person's profile
Open TikTok, tap the search icon at the top of the screen, and enter the person's username or display name. Open their profile from the results. If you already see one of their videos in your feed, you can tap their profile picture or username directly on the video to jump to their profile page.
Tap the Share button at the top of their profile
On their profile page, tap the Share button at the top. A menu opens. TikTok's help pages put Block, Report, and, for someone who follows you, Remove this follower in it.
Tap Block and confirm
Tap Block in the menu, then tap Block again to confirm. The person is not notified. They can no longer view your posts, find your profile in search, or message you, and you can no longer see theirs.
Good to know: If you only want the person off your follower list, tap Remove this follower in the same menu instead. It removes the follow without blocking them. A block is the option that also stops them finding your profile in search and messaging you.
Block someone from a direct message
If someone is bothering you through direct messages, block them from your inbox. Tap Inbox at the bottom. On an iPhone, swipe the chat and tap More, then tap Block. On Android, press and hold the chat, then tap Block. Tap Block again to confirm. You can also open the chat, tap the More options (...) button at the top, and turn the Block setting on. TikTok's page on managing direct messages says the chat is then labeled as blocked. If the messages break TikTok's Community Guidelines, report them at the same time. In the chat, press and hold a message or tap More options at the top, tap Report, choose a reason, and then tap Report and block.
Block multiple accounts from comments at once
If you are getting a flood of unwanted comments on a video, TikTok announced in 2021 that you can select up to 100 comments or accounts and block them in one go. The same steps work for a single comment. Go to the video and tap the Comments button. Press and hold a comment from someone you want to block and tap Manage multiple comments, or tap the Filters button at the top. Select the comments from the accounts you want to block. Tap More at the bottom, then tap Block accounts. Confirm by tapping Block. FAQ 2 below covers the comments the person already left.
Block someone from a computer
On a computer, open tiktok.com in your browser, log in, and go to the person's profile. Click the More options (...) button at the top of the profile, the menu TikTok's help pages name for reporting an account on the web. If Block is listed, click it and confirm. TikTok's help pages give the blocking steps for the app only. If you do not see Block in that menu, block the person from the app. A block belongs to your account, and your blocked list sits in your account settings (step 7).
Unblock someone if you change your mind
Find the person through your blocked list, because a block also keeps their profile out of your own search results. Tap Profile at the bottom, tap the Menu (☰) button at the top, and select Settings and privacy. Tap Privacy, then tap Blocked accounts. You may need to scroll down to find it. Go to the person's profile from that list, tap the Share button at the top, and tap Unblock. Those are TikTok's own unblock steps. After unblocking, the person can find your profile again and, if your account is public, watch your videos.
Heads up: Unblocking does not bring back the follows the block removed. If you followed each other before, you both need to follow again.
If the person keeps reaching you from a new account, block that account too, and report it if it breaks TikTok's Community Guidelines. On their profile, tap Share, then Report and Report account, choose a reason, and tap Submit. If a block feels like too much, change who can reach you instead. Under Settings and privacy, then Privacy, then Comments, you can allow comments only from followers you follow back, filter comments with keywords, or turn on Filter all comments so nothing appears until you approve it. No. TikTok says people you block are not notified. They might work it out if they search for your profile and cannot find it, or notice your videos no longer show up for them. A block made during a LIVE is the exception. TikTok says a viewer blocked from a LIVE is notified and cannot watch that creator's LIVE videos until they are unblocked.
TikTok's help pages do not say whether a block removes the comments the person already left on your videos. If you might want a record of what was said, take screenshots before you block. To remove the comments, delete them yourself. Press and hold a comment and tap Delete, or select up to 100 at once with the steps in step 5 and tap Delete.
Not from their blocked account. TikTok says a block stops both of you from viewing each other's posts and finding each other's profiles in search. They may still see you in a multi-host LIVE, a Duet posted by someone else, or a group chat you share. If your account is public, TikTok says your posts may be visible to anyone on or off TikTok, with or without an account, so a block does not hide them from a logged-out browser or a second account. A private account limits your videos to people you approve, although TikTok says your name, username, and profile photo stay visible to everyone.
We could not find a limit on TikTok's help pages for how many accounts you can block in total. The bulk method in step 5 blocks up to 100 comments or accounts at a time.
No. Restrict is an Instagram feature, where a restricted person's comments on your posts are visible only to them unless you approve them. TikTok's Restricted Mode is something else. TikTok describes it as a setting that limits the content you see, such as mature themes, not the people who can reach you. TikTok's controls short of a block apply to your whole account rather than to one person. You can choose who can comment, filter comments by keyword or hold them all for approval, and choose who can send you message requests. You can also remove a follower (step 3), and during a LIVE, TikTok lets creators and moderators mute a viewer's comments for a set time. A block is the only tool aimed at one account across your profile, comments, and messages.
